Frank, I believe it is the "E Pluribus Unum, Washington-Grant Dollar" HK-118. In white metal, it is supposed to be 41mm. It is listed as $25-$150 in circulated condition, but this one is in pretty bad shape. Chris
Listed So Called Dollars are in the Hibbler Kapplan book. After watching these medals for some time now, it would sell on EBay for about $50 to $75.
One thing that confuses me is that the silver medal in the H-K book is noted as "holed" but the white metal is not. It looks like someone attempted to put the hole in this one. Do you think this was done intentionally to deceive someone? Chris
This looks holed by someone after the medal was bought. If it was done at the time, you would not see metal pushed around the hole. A hole made at the time is usually has very clean edges. Probably not done to deceive. Buyers placing holes in medals is very common especially exposition SCD's.
not likely, probably done at the time for suspension. That was why (wearing the piece) the item is beat up
