Got this one In change today. It's Still a Little Bigger than the Dime but The Lip on Rim goes All the way around . Doesnt appear to be ground off and actually in pretty good shape.
It's off center a bit with the print at Top up against the rim. And all lettering and details are still fair. ddnt feel right when they handed it to me. Actually got a 1945 wheat with it.
Lettering up against the rim was not unusual for that era. The master hub was mushing and spreading out badly. As it spread the lettering moved further and further out from the center. Than when they would turn the dies down to the proper diameter the lettering was crowding into the rim. Finally in 1969 they junked the old master die and created a brand new one with lower relief, smaller bust, and the lettering moved in closer to the center.
