    Would you buy this coin?

Has great eye appeal. Someone didn't like the rim.

I'd think $500 if it didn't have the damage... But it does

These are my favorite series, but I'd still go no more than $100.

Agreed - nice eye appeal, except for the rim.

Maybe $100-$125. That damage is awful. :depressed:

I've seen more unfortunate key dates though.

Too bad would have been a decent coin without the damage. I'd avoid it personally unless it was extremely cheap as it's going to be a tough sell if you had to liquidate.

    ugh, bad person, bad.

that said: I wouldn't go over $25 for it, and I'd instantly be sorry that I bought it.

I would probably pay around $60-90 for a like that. Even though it would be a $300 coin without the damage, I would net grade it as a AG-Good.

I saw this one on eBay. I told the seller to expect $50-100. It is worth little more than what you paid for it.

Pass on it no matter what the price. The damage is just too disfiguring.

That coin makes me so sad that I probably wouldn't want to buy it either. WHY couldn't they have done that to a 1920 or 1923 instead of that 1921??

Not with a 10-foot pole. Imagine you or a family member having to sell it. You suppose it came out of jewelry?

I'd probably have it slabbed, despite the "details" grade and that could partially obscure the extent of the rim damage.

I'm in the pass crowd, if I had to give an offer 20-30 with the comments that I didn't want it

Honestly, grading with ANACS is not a bad idea. They are cheap, and do not have edgeview holders, which would hide a lot of the damage.

Key date original VF before the damage. It's worth much more than melt to the collecting community. Someone will gladly buy it to fill a hole in their album. If it were mine to sell, I'd price it at $125. Not sure what you paid, though...
