Do NGC/PCGS/ANACS/ICG slab Commonwealth coins reverse out by default, then?

 

I'm not sure what the companies' official policies are regarding the commonwealth coins or any other coins when it comes to slabbing side, if they have any. Most people do want to see the reverse with many (not all) of the commonwealth coins. What bugs me is the inconsistency, sometimes they'll put the rev front and at other times the obv, even if both coins are the same. I've never sent in anything to get graded, but as I like to collect a lot of British/Canadian/Australian etc stuff, I notice this inconsistency a lot in the slabbed coins I see for sale. Often I won't even buy a slabbed coin if I think the wrong slide is front-facing, especially if it's common enough that I can find plenty of other examples that were done correctly. It just bugs me and I don't want it like that in my collection. Makes me hesitant to send in coins like these because clearly it does affect resale value and desirability.

I'm sure the people working for these companies aren't experts on all coins and coin types, so I think having some standard procedures on this issue would really help. Either that or allow each customer to select which side they want on the front, that way everyone has a choice. Like just do that with all coins across the board.
