I’m not seeing any issue with the color here. This one may be even more puzzling than the example @ron_c posted. Is there any sign of cleaning or a wheel mark @bahabully ?

    For color I’ll go MA

    The quarter looks fine me.

I think you are right. I think this coin is a mechanical error and they typed the wrong error code. That looks like a wheel mark through LIBERTY on the obverse. The code used for that is 98, but seems more plausible than PCGS actually thinking this coin is AT.

Yeah, when I saw "Questionable Color" on the label, my response was "What color?"
    I agree with Lehigh above.

    What toning?
Looks like a regular Business Strike quarter.
    What am I missing here?
    I guess MA

I wanted to post this one to see others opinions. I bought this in a SEGS holder graded PR 64 RB. I decided to send it to NGC to get it in a better holder, and they sent it back PR details, altered color. What are your opinions? What are they seeing that I don't?

SEGS's opinion is fairly worthless IMHO. The color looks funky, but I would need to see it in hand. There is a reason that SEGS is treated as a third world slab by most collectors.

Some of these copper coins are difficult. This example does not look like blatant AT from the photo, but as has been stated one has to be more careful with SEGS coins.

This one might be worth another attempt, maybe at PCGS, just to get one more opinion.

I got a discount for the SEGS holder, but bought it because I thought it would straight grade in a "good" holder (even if at a lower grade). I personally don't see a problem with the color, and have actually seen much more questionable ones in straight holders. Thanks for your opinions!

Ok let's bring back this thread with this coin from @Glassman81

Please opine if you think the coin is
    1. AT/QC
    or
    2. NT/MA

I just looked on this site because I followed it on the NT/MA or AT/QC thread and would really like to learn how to identify if a coin has NT or AT. They're great teaching threads.

I don't ever really look at toned Proofs, but the color progression on that one seems very abrupt. I would vote AT.

I agree with NGC 100%. SEGS is third world.

physics-fan3.14 You got any more of them.... prooflikes?

The 71 proof 50 cent is questionable enough that I would hesitate to call it market acceptable. I think questionable color QC is the right call here.

Curious what others think of these two toned Peace Dollars slabbed AT by NGC.

@Volante is the reverse untoned for both?

The second one looks more natural than the first, but I could see both easily being in straight graded holders.

Regardless of market acceptability, I'd probably pass on both (they aren't my favorite type of color but I could see someone paying up for them in straight graded holders, especially the top one).
