<p>[QUOTE=&quot;Conder101, post: 958113, member: 66&quot;]Hello Evorlor,</p><p><br /></p><p>Yes I&#039;m the guy who collects slabs, not just every company but every holder variety from each company.</p><p><br /></p><p>I&#039;m not the only person who collects them but most just concentrate on the slabs of one company, and then there is Sampleslab mentioned earlier in the thread.&nbsp; He collects all the companies, but only the Sample slabs that they have produced.&nbsp; (Slabs can be broken down into five types, Production slabs, Sample slabs, Novelty slabs, Presentation slabs, and Advertising slabs.&nbsp; There are also Bodybags, and some Miscellaneous stuff.)</p><p><br /></p><p>As mentioned the slabbook has been out of print for quite some time now and copies are basically impossible to get.&nbsp; I haven&#039;t seen a copy on the market in two years now.&nbsp; People keep after me to do a third printing but the information is so out of date right now that I really don&#039;t want a third printing, I want a second edition.&nbsp; (The first book had the information and products of 82 companies.&nbsp; I currently have notes on over 150 companies.)&nbsp; I have been working on a revision but I spend way too much time on the coin forums and way too little time writing.&nbsp; I have to admit the sheer number of fly-by-night and self slabbers has made me a little depressed because I really just can&#039;t kep up with them.&nbsp; (In the first book I illustrated the first of the Generic shells produced by Coin World and predicted then that they would result in runaway numbers of grading services.&nbsp; Now that you didn&#039;t have the great expense of creating your own shells everyone and his brother would open his own grading service.&nbsp; Unfortunately I was right.)</p><p><br /></p><p>It also didn&#039;t help me when ebay implemented their rule that you could only mention the grading service if it was one of the accepted five companies.&nbsp; It sed to be one of my prime searching sources for new companies.&nbsp; I could search for Grading Service and use a -PCGS -NGC -ANACS etc and get rid of all of the services I knew about.&nbsp; Then the new ones would pop up.&nbsp; I can&#039;t do that now and often by the time I learn of a new company or holder the chance to get one is gone and often they never come back.</p><p><br /></p><p>So what I am working on now is something like a 1 1/2 edition which will list everything that was in the first book, An update of all the new varieties for the major services, and just a list of all of the new companies that I know of.&nbsp; I probably won&#039;t be able to show examples from all the new companies and I will be mainly concentrating on just the production varieties.&nbsp; Hopefully that will buy me some more time.&nbsp; Even so the book will be big.&nbsp; Last time I used larger than life size images of all the varieties and one variety per page.&nbsp; This time they will probably have to be life size or three quarters and two varieties per page.&nbsp; That means rewriting the whole book and reformatting everything.&nbsp; And it will probably still be close to the 436 pages the last one was.&nbsp; It&#039;s just a LOT of work.[/QUOTE]</p><p><br /></p>
