So I've only been working at the shop for about a week. Anyway I got yelled at by a customer who made an under the table deal with the owner. Apparently the owner received coins on consignment. He promised an elderly man that he would give him a percentage of what he sold them for. The only problem is that he failed to notify me of this, and I ended up selling them on eBay. The gentleman believed that his non key date 3 cent piece was worth 400 dollars. He was getting irrate infront of customers. I basically pulled up the ebay listing, showed him the coin via online, then pulled up the completed listing on eBay to show him that the value was less than 40 dollars. He wouldn't have it. I just wanted to calm him down, so I offered to give him an official newspaper of when Kennedy was assasinated "From the Dallas Star!" That was a dumb move on my part. I told him that I will sit down with the boss tommorrow and we will make it right. In the meantime I told him to bring all of his silver to me (when I'm working) and we will look up the value on eBay. Then.... I will make him an offer. Did I handle this right? He left simmered down. TYVM ~Jason
