Just sharing this site that I found about imitations of RR Denarii. https://rrimitations.ancients.info/ I usually try to find online references and sites with information; I think it would be useful & helpful to have a Forum thread where we can only post and share online references and sites about ancient coins. Sure, there is the Numismatic Resources Forum, but there is no Ancient section there. Just a thought...
Pinned topics on the ancient page was never really liked. Now, who knows. Open to all, who would like it on here or somewhere else?
Not a big deal, but I prefer to not have threads pinned to the top if possible. It's just a little bit of a pain to eye-scroll through them to get to active threads every single time. Didn't realize I had such a preference until that authoritarian "Behave this way children!" post finally went away.
Oh that's interesting. I remembering reading a message by Phil Davis that he'd turned his collecting interests to these. Good to see the site, thank you for sharing.
Maybe I just create a thread named "Ancient Numismatics Resources"? A few of the info that I am just thinking of on the fly: Literature and sites available on the Web: Roman https://rpc.ashmus.ox.ac.uk/ Roman Provincial http://www.lycianturkey.com/lycian_history.htm) http://augustuscoins.com/ed/ https://www.imperio-numismatico.com/h62-cartagonova-augusto https://www.beastcoins.com/Collections/KeithEmmettEgypt/KeithEmmettRomanEgypt.htm https://www.corpus-nummorum.eu/moesia/search/coins https://muenzen.uni-koeln.de/portal/home.html?l=de http://numismatics.org/zfn/38060000322719/66946.pdf Celtic coins Great Britain: https://vanarsdellcelticcoinageofbritain.com/ https://rrimitations.ancients.info/ Macedonian Doris Raymond, "Macedonian Regal Coinage to 413 BC", New York 1953: https://babel.hathitrust.org/cgi/pt?id=mdp.39015072447793&view=page&seq=7 ANS (American Numismatic Society) http://numismatics.org/pella/?lang=en Medieval and Early Modern Data Bank, Rutgers University https://memdb.libraries.rutgers.edu/ https://catalogarchive.org/data/catalogs/ Sassanian http://grifterrec.rasmir.com/sasania/kII_types/kII_types.html http://grifterrec.rasmir.com/sasania/sas_khuII_1.html Of course I would also include a description of what one can find at each link. Or maybe I should just forget it and do nothing Your thoughts are most welcome!
Those are good ones! This one, though: You also want to remember his "/ed/" pages, which are the "educational" ones, not the "for sale" ones: http://augustuscoins.com/ed/ I've got a page of resources / links -- some of the ones you posted aren't on it, so I'll probably want to update it: https://conservatoricoins.com/annotated-resources-community-links/
Thank you @Curtis for your input. Will change the augustuscoins link for the educational one when I post the thread, unless the opinion is that I should not post the thread ... still working on it
