Another part of my casino chip collection is Silver Strikes. These gaming tokens are made in many different denominations, but I've only ever seen $10, $20 & $100 tokens. All of mine are $10 tokens. The $10 tokens are 42mm, the outer ring is gold-plated brass and the core is .6 oz of .999 fine silver. Many of the casinos have these "specialty" machines, but oftentimes you have to look all over for them. So, the easiest thing to do is ask one of the casino staff if they have any and where they are.

My favorite are the Nevada Wildlife Series from Slots-A-Fun across the street from the Riviera in Las Vegas. The machine costs 75c per game, and you can win from 1-3 tokens depending on how many symbols line up on the pay line. You never know which one you will get when you win. It's all random. The "Valley of Fire" is the hardest one to win (I've got 5), and I've also won the Bald Eagle (4), the Big Horn Sheep (11), the Desert Tortoise (12), the Gila Monster (1), the Gray Wolf (14) and the Mountain Bluebird (3). The Gila Monster and the Mountain Bluebird were introduced the last year that I went to Vegas. My Mom accompanied me for the pool tournaments every year for 11 years, but when she passed, it just wasn't the same without her.

Anyway, here are the first four of the Nevada Wildlife, and I'll post the other three on the next post. If anyone wants to post some Silver Strikes of their own, please feel free to do so.

Chris
