I recently purchased a 2001-s US Proof Set for my son to coincide with his year of birth. I actually purchased 6 sets of different years for my other kids as well, but when I was examining the 2001 set I noticed something odd. The Sacagawea Dollar coin in this set looked like it was toning, but it looks like it is turning silver/nickel instead of its normal gold color? Attached is a picture, but the silver is much more pronounced than in the picture... it looks like a quarter or a nickel in the middle of the coin. Is this normal? Do "gold" colored coins like this normally tone silver? If anyone can shed some light it would be appreciated. Thanks, Daniel
Ok. Thanks so much for the quick response! I think it is very unique and the best out of the six sets I purchased.
The gold color is actually Manganese Brass Quote "These coins have a copper core clad by manganese brass" closed quote
