That's actually a pretty good idea. I think I'm gonna try that next time.

In the 1980's and 1990's I had jobs that included handling cash, and I was able to get some circulated specimens this way.

if you work for Loomis what's their policy on buying the silver and cool dollars you find? Anyone ever tried working for them?

Garlicus Debt is dumb, cash is king.

If you're just swapping a silver certificate for a federal reserve note, or a silver quarter for a clad one, there shouldn't be any problem with management, since your drawer will balance within acceptable parameters ($0-$3 over/short). If you're outright stealing money, whatever punishment you get is deserved.

P.S. - we're all surrounded by cameras. Big Brother is watching.

I've done it at previous jobs for some silver nickels while closing a register but it just looks kinda sketchy at most camera angles because they can't see what dollar you're taking out and what dollar you're putting in. And pharmacies are always being watched heavily. I am probably gonna try though if I ever see one.

At the bank today a teller showed me her collection that she's been saving from transactions. Old two dollar bills, silver certs, and some larger denomination older bills, along with a small horde of silver including a AU/BU 1928 Peace. ...no wonder I never find anything from her!

That was my first guess too.

I have found one $2 red seal, but one time my dad got a 1935G from the C..J block. I don't know how he got it, but it was in his pocket for some reason and he must not have realized what it was.

I was at a bank the other day and the teller there said she used to collect it when she first started working there but no longer bothers as she's older now and it's too rare now for her to even bother checking. I've tried getting a job at so many banks for that reason.

So since we've come to the conclusion hunting for Silver Certificates is pretty much going to be pointless, what about red seal 2's and 5's? Those more common to find around?
