...that doesn't look like a penny... Seriously, an authentic clip would be one of three things 1) curved clip where the clipped area would match another nickel placed against it 2) a straight clip or 3) a ragged clip. Yours is a mutilated coin.
Instead of me posting photos of what I think I have, I'll ask first. Are steel or zinc coated 1943 pennies worth anything? I have about 100. About 11 of them are very bright and silver, and most are dark pewter looking and some with rust.
Yes, the kids back then seemed to have no problem getting hold of what we called "quick silver". You saw a lot of 50's and earlier pennies with mercury on them.
The worn or rusty ones aren't worth much, but if the shiny ones are XF, AU or U, they are worth a couple of bucks each.
