Funny thing (this is a coin I do not own) and I see
    NGC current value is 5500
PCGS value for same is 7500
    What's up ?

PCGS might be excessively proud of their plastic???

The market values the two companies grading standards differently for that particular coin.

The most recent auctions were in one particular plastic and not the other?

Interesting thread, one I missed previously. Good information here. Still looks like a big roll of the dice by cracking out something already valuable and risking a downgrade as well as wasting grading fees. I do have two items I'd like to crossover to PCGS (and not cracking out unless it crosses). One is a MS Morgan that ANACS gave a details grade to as to color. The ANACS coin show rep himself said it looked like legitimate toning before I submitted. The colorful coin condition was the only reason i bought it, 1884O UNC are a dime a dozen. The other is a NGC 1886 MS65 PL with a top VAM attribution. I want the attribution on the front of the slab, instead of an add on for the reverse. Otherwise, I'd just let it be. Yes, you can say I'm both stubborn and anal about this. Guilty!:D
