Silly Newbie Question....Mint Mark Error?

    I was going through some quarters today, and found this 1983 quarter that just didn't look right, It looksmore like a period then a mint mark. Is this an error or just wear?

    It's one of two things..
    It could be a small die chip in the letter D or just Circulation wear that damaged the D.
