Here is a beautiful, large, Greek stater from Sikyon in the Peloponnessos, only 30 miles west of Corinth. 26-25 mm. 11.93 grams. Chimera (mythical creature--lion with goat's head projecting from the back and tail ending in a snake's head) ΣE below Dove flying left, wreath c.431-400 BC. ex Ex-Matrisciano Collection, California Apparently bought from Malter between 1965 and 1980. It has a nearly blank old-style Malter ticket with "17" on it, but think it was bought in the store because I didn't find it in Malter catalogs. An impressive large coin with good toning.
