I made a stew on Monday which lasted three days Today, it may be something microwaveable Two weeks ago, it was a different world! Maybe I just need more gin ATB, Aidan.
I don't care how much food they brought out to start with, that looks good enough that I know I would've been able to finish those last few bites.
Hehe - it was small, but it was the fourth of six courses, though I didn't bother with the last (cheeses). A week of pampering and now I'm fending for myself and breaking out the cookbooks ATB, Aidan.
Nothing will get your heart beating wildly...or stop it suddenly...than ruffed grouse bursting out of the snow right in front of you while stalking a deer. It's happened a couple of times and it's enough to make a preacher swear. Steve
I just got back from gorcery store... Tonight we are having cold fare. Bagels with creamed cheese/ topped with Smoked Chinook Salmon Dessert: Dr. Oekter Vanilla Pudding topped with Raspberry juice.
Grocery stores here have most of what we need, but bread is still in very short supply. My son has asked for a particular kind of bagel (Thomas Blueberry), and nobody has any Thomas products. Oh, well, he won't starve.
Here all Ethnic Delis/ Supermarkets/ Specialty shops are stocked full Toilet paper is another story, seems everyone for some insane reason is hoarding it.
Apple News had a great story this morning as to the psychology behind toilet paper hoarding. Made a lot of sense of this craziness. Steve
On the bright side, Food Lion had actually put out a small stack of TP, and it was even our preferred brand! I was a good citizen, and took only one six-pack.
The only thing I was unable to spot in the local supermarket was garlic - has there been panic buying in case of a plague of vampires?
The rumor that caused people to hoard TP was that the only food one could get during the pandemic was from Taco Bell.
Good question, @akeady! Interesting that fresh garlic is disappearing. Garlic is thought to have healing and immune system boosting properties by herbalists and practitioners of alternative medicine.
Good point about the real benefits of garlic - it gets a lot of good press, probably deservedly so. I wanted some for my stew. I'll look again before my next cooking effort ATB, Aidan.
@juris klavins, ahh! Another Father Ted fan! @wxcoin, honestly, you crack me up time and again. The Taco Bell quip was so funny it took me three tries before I could read it to my wife without laughing. You are good medicine, my friend! Steve
