Better make that about 2 1/2 weeks, depending on your job of course. 1 ducat =15 guilders In and around 1600 an outdoor laborer made 6 1/2 guilders a week. A master carpenter about 9 guilders a week, a regular carpenter less of course, a pastor about 9 1/2 guilders a week. But it was also a period of rapid change, and inflation. Around 1560 annual rent on a house was 11 guilders, by 1630 it was 62 guilders. BY 1730 it was up to 112.
Well, I do lawncare= outside labourer= for me 2 1/2 weeks Guess, I am better off in 2021 doing yard work. Make 7K a week cutting lawns/ weeding flowerbeds/ trimming hedges Also can work shirtless/ drink a few cold Coronas all while getting a good tan/ workout and thinking about coins. John 1600s where a great era for gorgeous coinage/ but not for ordinary people like me to afford them.....
Thanks for the info on what you could buy for a guilder. I’m always curious about the purchasing power of coins at the time they were minted.
There is a veritable mountain of information, papers, and published studies about it all out there. All ya gotta do go look for it. I've spent years, well decades now, doing exactly that. But's it all there to be found
