Actually, there are several sellers (I hesitate to call them dealers) who specialize in attempting to get gold CAC stickers to flip coins at a large profit. The strategy is fairly simple; take low value coins in old holders that are graded gem or near gem and submit scores of them. These are the coins most likely, in my experience, to receive gold CAC stickers. This would include 1938-D Buffalo nickels in MS65-MS66, 1940s era Mercs in MS64-MS66 and 1950s era Franklin half dollars in PR65-PR66. All of these coins are low value, were certified in the thousands by the TPGs early in their history and are generally available in old holders because the cost of regarding them is relatively large compared to their values. However, if they receive a gold sticker then what might be a $50 coin can be offered at $200 to see if anyone bites. There are a few folks who do this and who profit from it.
