Coin has very good eye appeal for an almost Coin has very good eye appeal for a 190 year old Lady. Also read on these threads that most if not all "old" coins were cleaned at one time or another. It was accepted practice to clean a coin and enhance its appearance in the late 1800's , early 1900's. So, one should presume that a 190 year old coin was cleaned/dipped/enhanced in its early lifetime. Lastly, the eye appeal for me outweighs the scracth. Nice coin
I have been himming and hawing on this one for about a month now. It's been listed and relisted and was just a touch out of my comfort zone for a coin that is just a conversation piece. Yesterday eBay offered up 4x eBay Bucks, which coupled with a lower starting price, got the coin to a more comfortable price. Still more than I really wanted to spend... but find another one double struck so clearly on the reverse. You can just make out the second strike on the obverse as well. Looks like a great candidate for some Verdi Care. I'd love to get enough crud off to attribute the die pair but I doubt that will happen. This old girl looks like she spent a fair amount of her life under ground.
Gosh, man. Those are so beat up. Here let me take those. They'll just take up a lot of space in your collection
This dollar has enough brown stuff on it to qualify as enviro damage, I think, and someone removed some of it from the obverse, although without leaving a bunch of hairlines. A problem coin that has a certain charm, though.
