That is the same Shilling date as mine shown at post #28. I really like these Great Britain coins dated around this time when the colonies were converted to the USA.
I used to have a 1787 shilling, but somehow it got lost in transit while I was flying between the US and Japan
1935 crown For some reason, I like the medieval-esque design of this coin. But it looks like the horse is doing most of the work in slaying the dragon!
1909 Perth Mint Half Sovereign, Edward VII, AU58 PCGS Mintage 44,022 according to Michael Marsh, "scarce." The Quartermaster Collection example (Monetarium, 4/2009), lot 298, was an Uncirculated they flat out called " very rare this condition" (and I agree) that brought AUD $7,596 against an estimate of AUD6500-7500. The coin above is en route to me from Australia and is already sold; like a lot of the nicest coins I sell, it never make its way onto my website. So technically it's "mine" for the day it takes to pack and ship it on its way to the final purchaser. (I confess I do enjoy keeping the photos though!)
I've tried to find a replacement in the same condition as my original shilling (EF) but have not found one yet. So I've had to settle for a 1787 sixpence.
This is the 2nd one of these I have in my collection. This one has nicer Cameos than the other. Total mintage of the proof for this coin of only 40,000 pieces!
I like the lion image on this coin. Kenya should have continued this reverse side. Their coins are kinda boring now. Well, to me at least.
:thumb:1 very nice Florin!!!! WWII made USA mint a few more country coinage too!! :kewl: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Florin_(Australian_coin)#Mintmarks
I think because they were used in many countries, including the Persian gulf Arab countries, 10 years ago this would cost you 8$, these days 19$ for a circulated coin. I think I have a full Indian set from 1 Rupee to 1/12 Anna, sorry I do not have pictures now. Just few days back I saw a 16 coin set "Full set minus the 1 Rupee coin" for 45$ only.
I know this is a very modern coin, but I really like this design. It's a fitting and beautiful commemorative to celebrate the 50th Anniversary (Golden Jubilee) of the reign of Queen Elizabeth II.
It is amazing and cool that after 3 years, I am now the owner of this coin (same NGC certification number, same coin).
