<p>
I remember being thirteen and what I wanted to collect. I read a book, The history of U.S. coins and I saw pictures of Morgan dollars and I said to myself, I will own some of them someday. I used to mow grass during the summers and weekends to make money. I used that money to buy uncirculated Morgans. My best friends mom would travel and hour and a half away every six weeks to visit family and I would go with her. On the way home we would stop at a small coin dealers shop and I couldn't wait to see what Morgan dollars were available for sale. My first purchase was a 1878-CC Morgan dollar choice uncirculated. I paid the handsome sum of fifteen dollars for this coin. Fast forward forty years later. I started sending these Mordan dollars off to NGC and PCGS for Grade and VAM attribution. The 1878-CC now resides in a NGC holder, graded MS 64. What a wonderful treat to see myself at that age (in a detached way) and see what attracted me to buy these coins. Coin collecting is a wonderful and satisfying hobby. It also tells us a little about ourselves in that we can take the time to appreciate the beauty, artistry and historical significance of these coins. Also, it shows a little of the tresure hunter in all of us. In the final analysis, we are but brief caretakers of these wonderful historical artifacts and you (we) should enjoy them while we can. If it makes you happy, go for it.
