Real Value? What will happen to the prices if copper soars? Then the melting law gets reversed because cents are no longer used in everyday commerce? Suddenly those astronomical mintages begin to shrink at warp speed, sending collectors scurrying to grab up as many as they can. Dates that at one time were super common to find, now have a real value many times face. That scenario not probable? I would'nt be suprised if it appeared rather quickly.:loud:
Hey Pocketchange: How do you manage that? Do you have one of the Honey-I-Shrunk-The-Kids machines for your rolls?
Personally I don't see the logic in saving these. Folks quote metal value and % increase in value but after melting fees etc... isn't it pretty much a wash?
copper has spiked up in recent years and it will definitely shoot up again when the economy recovers.
No.... That would be my head Of course, "zero" is a relative term - actually it's not but I'm just trying to dig myself out here...... Actually there was a thread here a few months back where it showed that a MILLION pennies in rolls would only take something like six cubic feet or something ridiculous like that. Of course, that won't work on a bamboo floor!
I am doing this and I just collected at least $1000 worth in copper cents I started about a year ago, it took a while
you dont need to melt for the item to have value. How much 90% silver is melted versus saved/traded/sold by private parties? Same thing with 90% US gold coins. In many cases, the coins are better in its current form. Of known weight and purity and highly unlikely to be counterfeit.
