Most of them are in far better shape than that and actually deserve a better grade than just Shipwreck affect. The registries don't recognize them for points at all. I think they're very cool for the pedigree. Without the slab recognition they'd be tossed in with everything else.
I collect silver coins from 1700's Sicily and Naples and it's common for them to have test cuts, usually on the reverse. Sometimes they also have shaved edges.
