As I wrote recently in another thread, I ordered a coin a week ago today from London Ancient Coins through V-Coins. They sent it via DHL express Monday morning London time, and it arrived at the door of my apartment here in New York City in the late afternoon on Tuesday, New York time -- just 41 hours later. Which is about how long it's taken in the past when I've had orders from the UK sent to me via DHL. So no customs issues, no delays. It was worth the $28 shipping cost to me to be able to get it that quickly, especially under current circumstances. I don't know, however, whether or not all the dealers in the UK are willing to use DHL. I have no experience with international FedEx.

On the other hand, I have little doubt that anything sent internationally in a way that it ends up with the USPS (U.S. Postal Service) -- such as regular international Priority mail -- would take quite some time, even if it's not sent by registered mail. That was my experience with a coin I ordered from CGB in Paris, through MA-Shops, that was sent by international Priority mail (with tracking) on March 9. The tracking updates showed that it arrived at the ISC (International Sorting Center) in NYC on Friday, March 13 (one day before the international flight restrictions were instituted), but it then vanished from the tracking system for more than two weeks. I then filed an online inquiry with U.S. Customs (which responded promptly by vigorously denying that it had ever held the package, and disclaiming all knowledge of its whereabouts), and a missing mail inquiry with the US Post Office. The next day, the package magically reappeared in the tracking system, which showed it as traveling from New York City to Columbus, Ohio on its way back to me in New York City! It finally arrived a couple of days later.

So my answer is: it depends.
