I won two Republican Denarii in the March 25th Tauler Y Fau auction in Spain. The next day I received the same polite e-mail that @Orielensis received saying that they would hold off on mailing until the current crisis subsides. My assumption was that the coins would eventually show up in June, so I was pleasantly surprised to get an e-mail this morning advising that the coins are on their way. Hopefully, this means that things have gotten better in Spain.
I won a Balbinus Sestertius in the Jean Elsen & ses Fils March 14th Auction and it turned up in the mail yesterday. I was pleased as their website says their office is shut.Clearly lots from Auction 144 were shipped. RCV 2403 BMC 28 Weight 20.29g
@Dafydd, I am also waiting for lots from the Elsen sale. Here in the US, I must track every shipment because USPS (at least in my town) fails to get signatures on international registered packages and frequently mis-delivers. Q1: Did you receive any "shipped" emails from Elsen? Q2: Are you located in the US? BTW.. Very nice Balbinus. Elsen sales sometimes have great values.
Hi Fugio1. Thank you. Q1 , No advice of shipping, they did chase payment but several days after I had already paid. Q2. I'm not in the USA, I'm in Wales, UK.
I have an order of coins from India which was shipped the day that country went into lock down. As I understand it, there is no non-essential air travel (and they mean it when they say essential), so the tracker says it was received and bagged at the international mail center on March 16th, but no movement since then. Similar situation on a group of antiquities from Japan that was mailed on March 3rd.
Is there any news about the Roma numismatics shipment? He launched the third auction but seems that still didn’t shipped the previous auction lots, if the are not confident I think that have to stop to launch new auctions.
I actually messaged Roma about a lot this morning that I won in mid April. They said they are trying to get things out, but can only have 1 person in the office per day to do things. They seem to be prioritizing new auctions instead of shipping won lots. They are going to have a massive backlog of items to ship when they get back to having more staff there.
Just received an email from Elsen on my lots from their last auction. He informed me that as of yesterday, Belgium Postal service is beginning to ship registered packages to the US, but they were warned that there is a huge backlog of all of the mailed packages that have been in storage by the postal service since the shutdown. He suggested they wait at least until next week to ship my lots and I agreed.
I got a parcel from the late april Naville auction. Shipped on Starwars day and landed yesterday via Royal mail and La poste (from UK to France). Not even a private postal service, the regular postal service, amazing ! Q
I saw that my Gallienus Tetradrachms I picked up from a seller in France is finally moving at La poste after a week of nothing.
The tracking at La poste isn't very efficient IMO : quite often, even though things are moving, they don't check the parcels (either they don't care or forget) and you feel everything is stuck somewhere. About the enveloppe I got yesterday, the Royal mail website announced it had already been delivered (and it actually was) while the La poste website was still saying it was in transit. Q
Good news! I heard from Elsen and they will resume shipping next Monday, 5/21. I have a few coins spread across Europe that should start moving. Dear Sir, The shipping issues caused by the coronavirus pandemy seem to be stabilizing and the postal services are working again. We therefore inform you that we are going to proceed to all shippings which had been frozen after our Auction 144. The shippings will start again next Monday. If you prefer us to keep your lot(s) a little longer, please let us know as soon as possible. Best regards, Jean Elsen & ses Fils s.a.
