Assuming this bill were in perfect condition (which it is not, it is lightly circulated but is very crisp) how much would it be worth?
It can't be worth more than $5.50 as circulating star notes don't sell for ridiculous sums. I hate to say it, and I am sorry, but I recommend to just put it back into circulation because it has really no numismatic value and probably won't appreciate in collector interest for another century.
Why should I put it back into circulation? Just because it has no monetary value other than face value? I collect coins and notes for fun, not for profit. Sorry, but I'm not taking your advice.
Because that is its destiny. Who are you to deny that? Now it may never know what it is like to have less buying power ever year.
That's rather a kind of rubbish and well, even arrogant statement to make. There are plenty of "modern" star notes that are considered rare and command good premiums over face value. Examples include $1 2006 mismatched serial number stars, $1 2009 H stars, and $1 2013 J star notes, to name a few.
Oh you're a nihilist. "That must be exhausting." The Dude, The Big Lebowski To me, modern star notes are only worth face value. Unless it is either a high grade (69) or a fancy serial number. Mismatched serial number is different and a great error to have.
