Nero “Victory” coins with the same obverse inscription and the same reverse depiction and inscription - the only difference being the portrait heads facing different directions - sequential RIC numbers.

Obverse Inscription: clockwise from bottom: IMP NERO CAESAR AVG P MAX TRP P P

Reverse depiction: Winged Victory, walking left, holding shield inscribed SPQR, S -------- C (left and right).

The same number, but sequential letters?

RIC 1a and RIC 1b (Augustus) - the very first two RIC entries.

I bought this as part of a group lot and from the accompanying holders they appear to have been both bought from Baldwin's in 1970.

    Silver Quinarius
Obv. AVGVST - Bare head of Augustus right
Rev. P CARIS - I LEG - Victory standing right crowning trophy; dagger and curved sword at base
    Mint: Emerita (ca. 25-23 BC)
    Wt./Size/Axis: 1.92g / - / 5h
    References:
    • RIC 1a (Augustus)
    Provenances:
    • Ex. Baldwin 1970
Acquisition/Sale: Morton and Eden Online Auction #127 (part of) 14-Nov-2019
    Notes: Dec 21, 19 - The 1970 price was apparently £9.
