The simple truth is you can't have a separate forum section for everything because it makes the basic forum navigation too cumbersome. Look at how it is now, even with the sections we currently have there are 4 pages of different forum sections - 4 pages of them. Now imagine how many pages of forum sections there would be if we split everything up into it's own section every time somebody, or even several somebodies, asked for a specific section. Just think about it for a minute.

Over the years there have been many, many, many requests for specific forum sections. Some folks have wanted separate sections for every US denomination, separate sections for patterns, separate sections for Proofs, even separate sections for each type. And that's just in the US Coins section. In the World and Ancients section there have been request for every individual country, every one. You got any idea how many of them there are - or how many there used to be ? We've even had requests for the ancient section to be broken up into different sections, one for Rome, one for Greece, one for Byzantine, even separate sections by Roman Emperor. Think about how many sections that would be.

Now think about how many sections we would have if we gave everybody what they asked for ? It would take 2 days just to scroll through the pages of all the different forum sections. Who among you would like that ?

Think about it from this perspective - where do you draw the line ? When requests are made for different or specific sections, how we grant one request and not grant somebody else's ? Simple answer, we can't. It just wouldn't be fair. And if nothing else we spend great efforts to try and make sure that everything, everything, is fair on CoinTalk - for everybody !

So long ago Peter, site owner, decided that he would grant requests for separate sections IF enough people made the same request. He never specified what that number of people of was. And I know for a fact that the number has changed over the years. When CT first started 12 years ago we had maybe, maybe 8 sections - that's it. Today we have 4 pages of them. (Mods have 5 pages of them - yeah we see things you guys don't.) And only Peter makes the decisions to add, or not add more sections. It's his house, he owns the place. Me ? I'm just a glorified babysitter.

So yes, requests do get granted from time to time. But there has to be a practical limit folks. Not because we don't want to give you what you want, but because you simply can't give everybody what they want because everybody wants something different. You can't please everybody - it can't be done - by anybody. So the only choice we have is to do what it is practical, what works and makes navigation simple. More and separate forum sections do not make things practical or navigation simple. The more sections you have the more complicated everything becomes, that's just common sense.
