I've shipped 100s of coins like that, and I haven't had the first one damaged or missing from the envelope. My sales are almost all Cents, and I certainly wouldn't recommend it for heavier dollars or ASEs, but it works just fine with smaller coins.
Not looking for specific sources, but where are you guys finding your coins to sell? Excluding the obvious of the Mint.
Thank you! And it'll be my fourth business for some extra profit. Got to work as much as i can to buy a few E-Types and Bugattis.
i often find some good ones for really low prices at antique stores (one i live by has dealers and one of the dealers sells a lot of world and US coins.) And there's the coin dealers and every once in a while you can even find someone's collections for sale at garage sales. Then there's the obvious of online and roll hunting.
Most of mine I get from coin dealers' value bins. If you buy a lot on eBay you get an idea of what certain coins sell for, so it's just a matter of seeing them at the dealer and knowing about what you can get for it online. Some coins tend to sell above their price guide listing and some sell below. Regarding shipping to the U.S. only, if you sell American coins that's fine, but if you sell world coins it makes sense to consider other countries. For most of my time selling on Ebay I only shipped to the U.S. A few months ago I added Canada, and now almost all the Canadian coins I sell go to Canada. A few weeks ago I added a bunch of other countries and now I've sold to several more countries. It means potentially more bids and more sales.
Shipping to anywhere in the world as a regular letter is $1.10. If it's nonbendable, add 20 cents. It gets more complicated with bigger packages though. Shipping a package overseas (even a bubble envelope can qualify as a package) starts at more than $6. You can print your own stamps from the automated postal machines for international shipping. I do that because if you go to a teller they might try to make you fill out a customs form or charge you the package rate. I just use the machine, say its only a letter and it always works.
Oh, okay. Thank you! Because i once had a request from a friend to send an Iphone to India and the shipping was going to be $85. We decided not to send it.
I've sold a few coins from India but I've never sold anything to someone in India. I guess Indian coins are popular now from what I've heard. I'm collecting them myself.
