1 more of these( last one for sale)

    Kurzuwan Anonymous Jital.
    ( 2.7g 20mm)
Khwarizmshahs. 'Ala al-Din Muhammad II. 596-617/1200-1220. AE jital. Siege issue. Kurzuwan mint, dated Rabi II AH 618 (May-June A.D. 1221). Kalima in three lines across field / al-malik across field; date in outer margin. Album 1971; Tye 324.1.
A cool coin that was likely struck in Kurzuwan while the city was under siege by the army of Genghis Khan.
" now regarded as having been struck at Kurzuwan while under siege by the Mongols. It is one of the very few identifiable 'siege coins' of the Islamic world."
The city held out for about 2 months before the city fell to the Mongols who massacred the population and destroyed the city.

    Price: $16
