Teletrade is your best option for sure. I gotta admit that is a lot of modern stuff there. I love your ASE collection. The are one of my favorites too!

I gotta say ouch! I just hope you don't have anywhere near $39K "inversted" in your collection, because you will have great difficulty getting even 10K for it. There is no marketmaker in moderns, so unless you are willing to go the eBay route then you will get nowhere near the prices listed on PCGS.

    I wish you luck!

Thanks for the replys....no I definetly did not pay that much.....probably about less than a quarter of the values listed by pcgs and ngc....those values are not what I paid nor asking...thats just what pcgs and ngc have listed.....I know there is no market for the moderns about the best I really have is all the ASE's and the other silver dollars....but I do have a lot more stuff not listed mainly mint stuff and tons of proof sets etc....thanks.....

I agree with Heritage auction for such a huge amount like that

After seeing your inventory list, I am retracting my previous advice on consigning the coins to Heritage! Thus, Teletrade might be the way to go or find someone to list them on eBay. I think that you whichever method you choose, quite a bit of the Modern coins would probably sell better if they are offered in Series lots!

I was able to view your NGC file but had trouble with the PCGS. As an avid collector I can tell you that you can forget about the prices listed at NGC or PCGS or for the most point anyone else except for the gray sheet. If I can buy a coin at gray sheet at auction then I think I have made a good deal. If it is a coin that is highly sought then if I pay 10% or less over gray sheet then I think I made a good deal. The NGC collection is very nice but they are mostly modern dates and do not bring a lot of money at auction unless they are very very rare. I still recommend Teletrade for your coins due to the dates. Heritage, for the most part deals in very rare coins. No disrespect but I see a lot of common varities for auction at Teletrade and they always sell.

Thanks for all the info, I sent my list to coin dealer in New Jersey he took a few days to look it over then he called me to ask me to send him all my coins then he would call me with a price. If I didnt like it then we would negotiate, if still no deal then he would ship all my coins back to me.....he couldnt even give me a ball park offer even though I sent him a detailed list with certification numbers etc.....I just cant see sending all my coins in the mail and taking a chance of them never coming back if a deal is not reached, anyways thanks to all of you who have responded, I think Im going to try the E bay thing....I know it will be a hassle and very time consuming but thats my plan.......thanks

Dude, come on! Are you paying any attention to the posts? The OP says he doesn't want to go eBay, so why would you even bother suggesting an eBay-style auction site? Furthermore, why suggest a new site with zero reputation and hardly any members?

Well,it is an alternative to eBay,& he won't get charged a listing fee.

I do not believe the dealer is being unreasonable, not that you suggested it but would you buy a "pig in a poke" or for that matter a new car without looking at it. You are right in your concerns about sending through the mail, horror stories abound. Take them to a dealer who is near you. If he is a registered dealer then he has guidelines to abide by and that way you would not lose sight of your coins. Buy or subscribe to the gray sheet and that way you will have a idea of the real value. Remember that with a dealer you are dealing with the lowest wholesale prices and he still has to sell your coins because he is in business to make a profit. My two cents.

That is pretty normal for dealers---most will not buy site-un-seen....and I can't say that I disagree. Now if you were talking about one or two coins that would be around $100-$200 then I can see just making an offer....but even I would want to see the coins first. With the grades and slab # you still don't know alot....you don't know if the coins are toned, Blast White, dull white, have alot of marks, look like they have been in a horse barn or whatever.

Ok thanks...sorry about the posting of my ebay I didnt realize the self promoting rule. I do agree in that the dealers needs to see the coins in hand....I just do not feel comfortable mailing all those coins....thats just me.

Send them Registered Mail - you can insure each package for $25,000. That should add a level of comfort.
