I believe this shows how careful application of a light and thought will defeat any tool or toy. The selfie light picture is considerably overexposed. If exposed properly by adjusting the camera settings it would improve but probably not be equal to the lamp adjusted to Randy's eye.
OK, so for $8.58 after tax I figured I would give it a try. Why not? It may be of use. I'll give it a shot when it arrives and let you know.
I think if I work with it more the Lamp with Selfie light will work well on most of my coins. I didn't mess around with exposure settings yet. Just the height of the camera, something I'll play with though. The Ptolemy had both lights, the rest just the selfie.
Alright, still messing around but I think it's worth trying, at least on some coins, and with a lamp as well in most cases (at least for me). My original pic. my new selfie light + lamp pic.
GOAL => whatever makes the coin look "real" is my favourite ... that's why I love Batman's old coin-photos that were literally "in-hand" (then you knew if the skin-colour was close-enough, that the coin was pretty much dead-on) ... my precious
