I believe this shows how careful application of a light and thought will defeat any tool or toy. The selfie light picture is considerably overexposed. If exposed properly by adjusting the camera settings it would improve but probably not be equal to the lamp adjusted to Randy's eye.

OK, so for $8.58 after tax I figured I would give it a try. Why not? It may be of use. I'll give it a shot when it arrives and let you know.

I think if I work with it more the Lamp with Selfie light will work well on most of my coins. I didn't mess around with exposure settings yet. Just the height of the camera, something I'll play with though.

The Ptolemy had both lights, the rest just the selfie. FullSizeRender (9).jpg FullSizeRender (8).jpg FullSizeRender (7).jpg FullSizeRender (6).jpg FullSizeRender (5).jpg FullSizeRender (4).jpg FullSizeRender (3).jpg FullSizeRender (2).jpg FullSizeRender (1).jpg

Light colored coins seem consistantly overexposed but that is a simple fix.

Alright, still messing around but I think it's worth trying, at least on some coins, and with a lamp as well in most cases (at least for me).

    My original pic.

... that's why I love Batman's old coin-photos that were literally "in-hand" (then you knew if the skin-colour was close-enough, that the coin was pretty much dead-on)

I didn't know Dionysos was on Cointalk.

He visits now and then, but I think Steve buys a lot of his coins from Dionysos.
