SNG Israel 2799. Condition: Very fine. Weight: 15.7g. Diameter: 26 mm.</p><p><br /></p><p>This fellow was about the last of the line for the once mighty Seleucids. His name means "brother loving", he tolerated some of his brothers...and some he didn't. Syria was a mess of various family members engaged in civil war with foreign governments (Nabateans, Ptolemy crew) getting in the mix. Sound familiar? I think Philip pretty much just controlled Antioch by this point, so it's almost a "civic issue".</p><p>Soon this cat named Tigranes the Great from Armenia rolled through, that's pretty much the end of the empire.
