The reverse reads ΛΠΑΜΕΩΝ / ΤΗΣ ΙΕΡΑΣ / ΚΑΙ AΣYΛOY and depicts the thyrsos of Dionysus tied with ribbons. These coins are typically dated on the reverse, but the date here is illegible. They were struck from 30-17 B.C. Compare RPC I, 4347-4352; Handbook of Greek Coinage Series: Volume 9, 1425. In a famous painting by Bouguereau, "Mailice," a Bacchante holds a thyrsos tied with ribbons.
