One of the principle owners of Legend Numismatics has put in print something to the effect that "truly Uncirculated" Bust half dollars are extremely rare. Dave Bowers has written that coins that were once graded AU are now graded MS!</p><p><br /></p><p>That is the problem. Now, much of grading is strictly an "informed" guess based on what the coin is worth. However, for our own good, we all need to have personal standards as to how much "rub/cabinet friction/wear/loss of luster" on the high points of a coin make it AU <span style="color: rgb(179, 0, 0)">for us and our money</span>. Many times, our opinion will not match the TPGS and each of them may be as far as one point in disagreement for MS and many $$$$ of difference if the point is at the AU/MS line. </p><p><br /></p><p>We all have read that SEGS, ANACS, and ICG are insignificant when it comes to grading; nevertheless, in many cases coins such as those in your test are often graded exactly how NGC/PCGS would.
