  1. I've created this post in the hopes that all the doubters and put downers could finally supply proof (which they NEVER HAVE!!!) that this is a common type defect.

Seeking a coin that specifically is/has
    -Mint State
-Lettering that GOES PAST THE RIM AND ENTERS THE EDGE(see photo2)
    -Blotchiness on the Entire Surface
    -Perfect opposite side.

I will rest my case when the doubters can prove everything they say. as they say "they're everywhere"; then you should be able to proved proof. After over 1 years of searching, never seen anything like this. So PHOTOS PLEASE. put your money where your mouth is please. DSCF7852.JPG s-l1600.jpg

I'm not sure who the "doubters" are, or what they're doubting (do they deny design creep is real, or do they deny that you have the only example?) but you're talking about a known phenomenon.

Because the level of skill among forum-goers is as varied as their usernames. You've already interacted with Mike Diamond in the other thread; his opinion, which any educated numismatist will agree with, pretty much settles the case. This is a completely irrelevant thread as the questions have already been answered regarding your coin, by the single person best equipped to answer them. Not sure why you even think this is necessary.

I have great respect for Mike Diamond, and I appreciate his explanation, but I do not agree with the name given. Description, yes, but it is die fatigue and deterioration. Yes to a great extreme, but still that. We have seen the result, but only possibilities as to reason , bad metal, extreme overpressure, etc. but no presented mint metallurgy explanation. But if you are pushing to get the description in google count raised for your eBay sells ( 5 current auctions ), be careful you do not drift into self-promotion, which is against our rules. Jim

Maybe just should of searched this topic - as it seems it is NOT common. Reading first, accusatory statements second (if at all)!!

Anyone who's ever used a hammer towards the actual limit of its' life understands what happened with the die for this coin intuitively. It's exactly what the striking face of a hammer does when pushed too far.

I've often wondered to what extent the continuous use of a die past its' normal design parameters of temporal endurance (150+ strikes a minute generate a lot of heat, and one would think dies to need cooling breaks) might do towards annealing a die. This might be a more common happenstance than we realize, just rarely allowed to escape into the wild.
