Over the years, I have acquired a good number of coins in different collections/deals that I have purchased. In trying to inventory and sell them, I have started with Canada. I do not collect Canadian coins, so I am trying to organize and sell all of the coins that don't fit my main collection. I have put together a loose inventory of the coins and would hope to sell them as a group. A couple of things to consider... The coins grade from "man, that's ugly" to uncirculated. There are some varieties that were listed on the original holders and checked out, but I don't want to go through them and variety hunt, I don't have the time. I don't sell on eBay and would think that most people would consider this junk if it was listed as a large Canadian collection without pics of all of the better coins...sorta like an "unsorted estate find" or something similar. My first consideration (and laziest, obviously) was to just ship them to a large Canadian coin dealer and be done with it. After realizing that the cost of shipping something from the US to Canada is only slightly less than the GDP of a small country and that forms needed to be filled out, I quickly realized that this was not going to happen. So, if you guys/gals have had any experience with anything similar, I would love to hear your thoughts on potential pricing or venues. Even if you haven't had something similar, I would love to hear any thoughts you have on the subject, in general, as I have more stuff to get through after this. I know how difficult it is to be specific with no specific info to go on, but I am looking more for ideas to explore than I am for a price point, etc. I can provide some of the raw numbers. In looking at these, I would say that the whole group is typical to an average collector's coins. There are some nicer items while most will fall into generic categories. Also, there are better dates but a lot of commons. Finally, sadly, there are a number of coins that were cleaned for no apparent reason because they already fell into a lower grade category (never have really understood that). A snapshot of the pre George VI coins: 23 Pre-Confederation Tokens 30 Victorian Pennies 10 Victorian provincial coppers 15 Edwardian Pennies 17 George V Large Pennies 140 George V Small Pennies 49 Silver 5 Cents (Victoria to GV) 16 Silver 10 Cents (Victoria to GV) 2 Silver 25 Cents (GV) 14 Silver 50 Cents (Ed to GV) 10-15 Newfoundland pieces a few mint/proof sets, etc. (EII-60s and later) Thank you in advance for any suggestions, ideas, etc.
