<p>[QUOTE=&quot;otlichnik, post: 6410200, member: 109731&quot;]I realize I promised to show the coins I received and then promptly forgot.&nbsp; better late than never.</p><p><br /></p><p>This small bronze coin is from the Satavahana Dynasty of India, and was struck under king Satakarni circa 30-107 AD.&nbsp; At first I thought the obverse showed an elephant with tower on it, but I couldn&#039;t see the head.&nbsp; When I researched it, it turns out the &quot;tower&quot; is the head, which was quite stylized and geometric despite the rounded body - the trunk would be off the flan to the top.&nbsp; The reverse is the Ujjain symbol.&nbsp; Mitchener #4941-4952; zeno 33149.&nbsp; This coin supplements my small collection of Indian coins.</p><p>[ATTACH=full]1253864[/ATTACH] </p><p><br /></p><p>This is a small silver pre-Islamic Central Asian coin.&nbsp; It is from Soghd, the mint of Samarkand and dates circa the first century AD.&nbsp; It is an imitation of a Seleucid type with head left on obverse and a standing archer on reverse (minus head!!).&nbsp; The coin is scyphate - something I only associated with Byzantine coinage.&nbsp; It is Hoover 512; zeno 217268 (almost exact match).&nbsp; I had nothing remotely similar in my collection, though I have several wide and thin AE fals from Samarkand from the 10th-13th centuries.</p><p>[ATTACH=full]1253865[/ATTACH] </p><p><br /></p><p>This is a very small &quot;barbarous&quot; FEL TEMP REPARATIO Falling Horseman coin (one of my main areas of collecting).&nbsp; The face and some lettering can be made out on the obverse.&nbsp; Unfortunately I was unable despite many tries to get the camera to focus on the reverse - it all came out totally blurry - but you can definitely make out the torso of the Emperor, his spear and the victim.</p><p>[ATTACH=full]1253866[/ATTACH] </p><p><br /></p><p>SC[/QUOTE]</p><p><br /></p>
