Because it is not restricted to Scotland. When I was growing up in the north of England we followed many of the same practices.

Got my giftee name and wanted to thank them and @Kirkuleez. Doing a little research on what the person posts and their likes has been interesting! They have a unique collecting habit and I've learned a lot on these particular types of coins. Ordered one gift and looking for another, but it's not too easy to find. Hope they like it.
It seems counterintuitive to me to get someone something they collect. Unless it is an expensive piece it seems like there is a good chance they already have it. I would think it more naturally to introduce someone to a new area of collecting by sending something they don't collect.
I can see both options. I personally am not looking to expand because I'm just starting my US types so taking on another currency would be rough ha or I collect toners so you can't really get too many since they're mostly unique. BUT if someone exclusively collects Morgan's and has 3 of every year/variant then giving a new area of coin would probably be greatly appreciated. Either way I'm guessing everyone will love their gifts, coin enthusiasts are ENTHUSIASTIC (ha) about getting coins.
It’s nice that you guys are looking to get something that your recipients would really like, but I think that you are thinking too hard. In my experience with the exchange is that when coin collectors get something round to add to their collection, they like it no matter if it is in their normal collection focus or not.
FYI - I just received my info from Kirk! He is on the task! I've been well prepared! I got this for a **steal** overseas last year, and just waiting for this time of year to give it to someone! Finding a way to ship it is going to be a real challenge!
Hey Secret Santa! My box arrived at high noon today. It’s the first present under the tree. Let’s see how much discipline I have. Thank you and Merry Christmas!!!!
