Possibly......but some folks might be slighted if we missed their birthdays. All for keeping things (not that you've had an easy time) simple.......
I'm down kirk! That would be great especially for the less fortunate, newbies & yn's. I think a birthday "secret santa" is a great idea but I'll have to wait until may darn it I love it when a plan comes together
How would you determine the member? I see some hurt feelings here when you have more than 1 birthday in a month. Might be better to have comments instead of actual gifts.
The participants give there birthday and a list is formed on a calander app. Set a calander alarm on each and mails go out on birthday days. I think this could be relativly simplistic especially if the mods have a bulk messaging option and ct myers birthdays will be special from now on
I think if its for well known members only with say at least 250-500 posts it can work and not get over bearing. Also a minimum of 1 month before your birthday to ask to be added to the list. And no need for big gifts, if everyone sends something small it all adds up to the recipient. The postage can be a stamp or first class.
Nah.....just keep it simple. I applaud you Cascade, for your idea, but would you yourself take such a venture on? I ask only as a friend. Lots of work there brother......
OK...at least I made it in 2015. Was in Vegas for Christmas and had to wait till I got back to show you this good stuff...here we go Kentucky related items British Caribbean 1/2 cent A medly of a Witten State 10 pfennig, a 5 yen, an off center cent and a Canadian nickel Wowzer!!!
As much as I'd like to receive something for my b-day, I think the Christmas one is really special. I do like the idea of extra time, knowing what to start looking for. Because Christmas can be hectic as it is. Perhaps doing a pairing before Thanksgiving, and a final check in to you on say, Dec 5 or 7th or so to catch anyone who volunteered and decided not to participate (have a gift ready to send). I know it's a lot of work for you, but that's my idea anyways.
i sort of agree, I already work about a hundred hours a week and would have difficulty really keeping this together to the point that we didn't upset anyone. It was just a thought, but the reality is that it would be tough and we would be bound to let some down if we attempted to keep it small. In fact, I'm not sure that CT or I would really approve of singling out certain members to participate while excluding others. For now, we can just stay Santas unless someone really feels like taking it on.
Generally I hate the gimmick of this sort of thing, but I find myself loving the artist signature slabs for some reason. Not to start any controversy, but especially the DC coins. Edited because I've been partaking in the fun juice for a bit. Should make some sense now.
I know I mentioned this last year when the fun of the Secret Santa exchange was at it's peak and some were asking for a regular exchange to happen... but I think a "Christmas in July" exchange wouldn't be a bad idea. It would happen at the opposite time of year, different players and different dynamic, far from the season of giving, and also near the time of some of the big summer coin shows. Twice a year at most seems do-able, but the birthday thing seems way too ambitious and challenging to maintain. Perhaps, it's more of the compliment, coming from members who want more of a good thing, rather than the realization of having lots of ongoing exchanges, that we can take away from this.
I just picked up a 64 peace dollar and his roosevelt dime over strike both in signed anacs 69 slabs. Should have them in hand soon
Is it a D, or a DC? Both are cool, but there's also a winner and I have an interested parry to the tune of seven figures. Just P M me your bank details and I'll take care of it.
I finally opened up my secret santa package to find three bank notes from Japan, Germany, and Indonesia. Interesting pieces I will have to do further research on... Thank you secret santa!
