I've been stuck in Africa for several months, and I couldn't think of a better way to rejoin you guys than to participate in the Secret Santa again. Good to be back, and please count me in.
In the first post of this thread, the details for the Secret Santa 2013 event are listed. Basically, sign up if you're interested. And read the post for the other details. Fa la la la la!
Actually i hopped in as post #21 After re reading the first post I noted that dec 12 will be the draw date. (Same a a my birthday) Sorry to have not read closer initially -Walter
Gosh, I have barely been around here lately, but I've done the past two so count me in! Also, I have no issues shipping internationally.
With the name drawing date getting close, and since I will ship internationally, I worry that I will send something that doesn't fit in someone's collection..... I'd like it if I could see some hints at peoples' preferences. Any specific country and/or denomination? Date range? I want my gift to be well-received, and I think that this is a good way to get a hint. As an aside, we had a member pass away last year from Belgium. I'm ashamed to say I cannot remember his handle here at CT, but the spirit and personality he displayed was beloved by all. He left behind a brother kind enough to let us know what happened, and two young children. I remember that several members sent the kids a package before, and I feel like it would be fitting to send them something for Christmas. If anyone still has that contact info I would greatly appreciate a PM so I can send them a gift and let them know that their father is still thought of and remembered fondly even across the world because of the good person he was. Please help me with this info. ASAP as it will take awhile for something to get to Belgium. Thanks to anyone who can help me make this happen. Merry Christmas!
Silent, you probably won't be matched with me since I'm a US member, but if anyone is matched with me and needs suggestions, they can probably get some good ideas with my posting history, as well as I am happy to answer questions. I really do dabble all over the coin realm, but focus on US coins. I'm more of a proof sort of collector, but I am happy to be exposed to something new as well. Last year I was given my first penny by Robec and it is a beautiful part of my collection today that I still enjoy, especially for the fun story I have about how I got it, and what it went through to get to me. I'm sure many members agree with me that whatever they get will be something they'll enjoy, whether it's something they focus on, or something that may be in a new area they haven't collected before.
I'm not gonna lie. I'm pretty excited for this years Secret Santa. Had a ton if fun last year participating and expect the same this year.
This is the first year i am doing any kind of secret Santa since i was a kid. I have the gift all picked out already. Can't wait to see if the person loves it or not.......
I've got it all boxed up and waiting for a name/address to ship it out to. This gonna be fun this year
Does anyone out there still have a mailing address for Koen's children, or other contact info to confirm that address is still valid?
You could try contacting his brother Herman. After Koen's accident he used his own account here for some time: http://www.cointalk.com/members/hermans.38043/ Send him a PM ("Start Conversation") and see whether he responds ... Christian
It appears as if I'm unable to start a conversation with him? Last activity was may 2012. any other methods/ideas welcome and appreciated.
Just tried to send him a PM/Conversation message. Technically it worked; now whether he gets it, we will see. In any case, thank you for your kind thoughts and the idea to send his family some coins! Christian
