My thoughts are for the person who sent you the gift. Did you not think about how he/she will feel when they read about how much you appreciated their gift?
You guys! Take the high road and ignore them. There'll be more room for me on the low road. This happened about two years ago, and I was hoping it wouldn't happen again. As for the ungrateful bahumbugging grinch, I will keep this as a note for next year to not let you participate next year. It got personal. I bent my own rule on post count letting you in on the exchange just so you may feel the Christmas cheer and enjoy the exchange. Coming to this forum and doing such a thing is not only tasteless, but offensive not just to the sender, but everybody else on this forum. This exchange brings the family of cointalk together to do something to get our minds off the dreck that goes on in the messed up world. At least to me, I do this as a distraction and a bit to cheer myself up with the pleasant feeling of giving. Receiving is not really the big part of it. But all I have to blame is myself. If I hadn't broken my one rule, this malarkey wouldn't have happened. With that said, I do wish you a merry Christmas as well as the rest of the participants.
Well to try and get this thread back to the cheerful holiday atmosphere that we all participate for, I went ahead and let my kids open my gift which arrived very early this week. Santa (Craig) thank you very much and my girls loved the gift. They are obsessed with the folders and will certainly put them to good use. My seven month old son loved the silver eagle, so much so he tried to eat it lol. Thank you very much and Merry Christmas everyone.
Me three, but the person I sent to probably hasn't got theirs yet either. I mailed it Tuesday. It just makes the anticipation grow.
This Santa is a slacker. I bought something on Ebay for the secret santa and it arrived today. I promise it will be out first thing tomorrow, so please be patient, my recipient. Your awesome gift is coming!
Not gonna lie, im jells of Angelo receiving an Un Peso.....i am building a set of those.....arrggghhh
Also, I need to find just a normal, not Secret Santa (or 2) for next year. Its a little late this year, but I would love to have a couple of folks who commit to each other in sending around coin related gifts. No one in my family knows how to purchase a decent coin for a gift for me and it would be nice if there was like a small personal group of 3-4 people to where you buy everyone in the group a small gift ($25-$50) that way you get 3 or 4 different coin related gifts. Sounds good anyway
A couple years ago, my daughter wanted to buy me a coin but didn't know how. She went to my favorite LCS and the owner gave her a "receipt" to be used as a "gift" card. ( he took her money first). A couple of weeks later I went in the the shop to spend it. He told me that was the first time anyone ever ask him to do that. What a guy! A true businessman! don't be afraid to be creative.
It really is, and I couldve used a 1944 peso since I only have 5 coins in my set so far. Im looking for some just a little cleaner overall though. But still a heck of a christmas present for sure! That was a great choice to whomever Jello's Secret Santa is. Great job!
Gift cards are a good idea to get a coin collector, but I still think the idea of another human picking (but picking well) is much more fun. You still get the thrill of the surprise and the camaraderie of exchanging like minded gifts.
Santa arrived today for me. Thank you Very much Santa, at least a few of these fill spots in my album that I had not yet found BUs for and you will never hear me complain about an error/die crack You did very well by me
