My COS II is pitiful in comparison with those above.

The legionary types also appear on the odd legend varieties that we believe occur between the AVG legend of A.D. 193 and the COS II legend of A.D. 194

The first illustration comes from the AVG II CO and is an AVG VIII like the earlier coins illustrated by Doug above.

Obv:– IMP CAE L SEP SEV PERT AVG II CO, Laureate head right
Rev:- LEG VIII AVO (sic) ? CR P COS, Legionary eagle between two standards
    Minted in Emesa, A.D. 194
    References:– Cohen -. BMC -. RIC -. RSC -.
This is the only known obverse die with this obverse legend variant.
Possibly the third specimen known. The other examples are Oxford ex Walker, JNG 1978/1979, pl. 9, 4 which are both from the same die pair.

The second coin with AVG II C is for LEG XIIII as per the COS II types. One of two examples we are currently aware of, the other being ex-Kelly and now belonging to Curtis Clay both coins come from the same die pair.

None of the other odd interim legends are currently known with these legionary types.
