This dime came from a Bowers auction back in 1996. I left the coin in the auction holder and put it away for a long time. The holder was made with PVC. These are my notes I made over the years. HERBERT D. SPENCER COLLECTION LOT 380 SENT PCGS AUG OF 98 CAME BACK BAGED AS ENVIROMENTAL DAMAGE ie: CORROSION, LAQUER ? WHO KNOWS? SENT TO ANACS CAME BACK PVC RES. ACETONE BATH AND BACK TO ANACS. CAME BACK UNC DETAILS NET AU CLEANED RETONED. It just came back from PCGS as AU Details Cleaned. My fault for not removing the coin from the auction holder when I first received it. If not for that it would have received a low MS grade. A bit rare in any MS grade. The looks of the obverse devices came from being struck from a rusty die. I learned a great lesson from this coin.
