i have a receipt, and he left feedback stating he picked it up. i am not worried about that, im angry because they quoted me a "policy" that i can find no where in terms and conditions. i will be bothering them again this morning. i iwll keep calling back until this is resolved. this is a BS policy and it needs to be changed. ebay allows an option for local pickup. they need to have a release funds after pickup option for the buyers.

Exactly how did i not follow ebays rules? ebay gives you the local pickup option. that would mean ebay isnt following its own rules.

You are correct. I believe what I stated was an older policy. This is current, from eBay's FAQ's:

If my buyer leaves positive feedback, will my funds be available?
No, positive feedback is not necessarily a reliable indication of successful fulfillment because buyers often leave feedback before they even receive the item, or do not leave feedback at all.

What about items with local pickup?

For affected sellers, if your buyer pays for the item using PayPal and uses local pickup for an item purchased on eBay.com or eBay.ca (either the English or French language version) but not using eBay's Classified Ad format, your funds will be available 21 days after the buyer pays.

i see a lot of "buyers remorse" issues coming from this. this puts a seller on the hook even after the two week return window. how hard would it be to add a release funds widget for local pickups? i am really ready to just say screw ebay. i have had more sales through here, criagslist, and LCR anyway. and they dont charge a loanshark like vig of 11-12% what ever it is.

Personally, I believe eBay/PayPal want to discourage local pickup, especially for smaller items that can be easily shipped (they lose money on cash transactions or the fees they charge for shipping costs).

I agree 100% and i also think that they WANT to keep your money in escrow as long as they can to capitalize on interest.

and like i said yesterday; had i mailed it, he would have gotten it the next morning being only 15-20 mins away. i would have the funds available. no good deed goes unpunished.

eBay, nor PayPal require signature confirmation. Only delivery.

Signature confirmation is an option, and one that many eBay sellers should use.

For full seller protection, Signature Confirmation is required above a certain price threshhold whereas Delivery Confirmation is required below that level. Since I do not know the value of a Type 2 SBA, I listed both options.

I dont know the full details of the story, but a co-worker of mine got a lifetime ban from ebay after offering local pickup a few years ago on an item in Maine. Woman came and got the item, seemed happy, but later filed a complaint with ebay, and even though he had several hundered completed auctions, and 100% feedback, he was still banned. That was several years ago, and he can't ever go back to eBay as far as he knows. It seems arbitrary to me. I guess the only thing I learned about that incident, and reinforced by this thread, is that even if the buyer / seller lives down the road from me, I wont EVER use local pickup. To me, my eBay account is precious, and I know how they can just likeftime ban you for something stupid, or when common sense clearly shows you are in the right. I'm just going to keep my head down, stay under the radar, and hope I never **** off the ebay gods.

they(ebay) allow local pick-ups. it is an option you can check when you create an auction. they just need to rectify the way the release of funds work on them.
