One, the prongs ruin photos. And two, the prongs hide more of the edge they touch. I bought a very nice, scarce 1843 large cent (petite head, large letters) at the June Heritage auction in an NGC prong holder. It was destined for my Dansco and when I cracked it out I discovered a large rim ding hiding under the prong. Major bummer.
