I have an epson perfection v100 photo scanner. At times, i have trouble scannign some notes. This includes most newer notes from England, the Euro zone and even the 2004 US $10 note. Most other notes are fine, only newer issues do i have troubles. When i go to scan the note, my scanner gets about 1/2 way done, and pops up a box telling me it is illegal to do so and to abort. then directs me to the rulesofuse website.

My next scanner, i want to get one i know wont give me such nonsense problems. It was suggested to use old technology to beat the new security, but i dont want to use a used scaner, it wont last very long. I would rather start with something new that works, and use it as long as possible.

So i called Epson today

I talked with a few folks from the tech support department. 1 guy told me that the scanner DOES NOT have any software built in that would prevent it from scanning notes. He tells me the scanner does not have any built in security because how would the scanner know what it was scanning (is this guy for real, right?). He says the scanner cannot tell the difference between a piece of paper and a piece of money. I told him i can scan most world notes just fine, i only have problems with newer issues from England, most Euros, and the US 2004 $10 note. I asked him why i would want a credit in their store, if none of their products worked the way i needed it to. I told him i would have to lok at other manufacturers to determine if they have a scanner that would work for me as it sounded like Epson didnt know what their product did. He gave me assurance i could go to any store, he suggested Best Buy. I told him i 'could' go to Best Buy as they sure did have alot of scanners out to look at. It was suggested to use old technology to beat the new security, but i dont want to use a used scaner, it wont last very long. So i called Epson today :D I talked with a few folks from the tech support department. 1 guy told me that the scanner DOES NOT have any software built in that would prevent it from scanning notes. I asked him why it pops up with a 'scanner' dialog box telling me i cannot scan the note.. enters tech guy #2. He tells me the scanner does not have any built in security because how would the scanner know what it was scanning (is this guy for real, right?). And that my best resort was to actually try the local best buy :D So if you see me.. daggarjon.. on the local 20/20 trying over and over to convince everyone i am not a korean counterfeiter and that i really am only trying to scan money for legal and authorized use... please call in to tell them i am right.. please :D Oh, and if you do know of a new scanner i can buy that will not cause me issue... you could also tell us that... before i get arrested lol thank you.. i do feel a little better now.
