While I'm not an error collector I very much enjoy the error section and reading Fred's posts. Hope he continues to contribute his expertise here.
Congrats on a magnificent, storied carrier @Fred Weinberg I'm hoping the old adage holds true for you Fred, 'you can take the man out of the hobby, but you can't take the love of the hobby out of the man' I sure hope to see the likes of you still posting here on CT. Enjoy retirement. Health and happiness to you and yours.
@Fred Weinberg …Congratulations on your retirement, Fred. I can say that in the 4 years I’ve been a member here, there have been about 30 top notch experts that I have learned from and you were and are and always will be one of the best. I found myself making an analysis and then you chimed in and confirmed. Made me feel accomplished. We said: “Was that the right call?”…and the answer was: “Yes, Fred said so”. …Spark
@green18 @mark68 Yes I know There was a thread on the subject before.. From September 22nd https://www.cointalk.com/threads/did-you-hear-fred-weinberg-is-retiring.386746/
Mornin' guys - Yes, although I am retiring after 50 years as a full-time dealer (and a collector for 12 years before that), I do plan on reading and posting this chat room - It's taken me almost a year to sell, put into Heritage's auction, organize, throw away, and get ready to close my office - aiming for the end of February or so. FUN will be my last FUN table, the Feb. Long Beach Expo will be my last LB table, but I do plan on going to the LB shows, and maybe a FUN show in the future, just to socialize, have a dinner or two with old friends, etc. Although I do plan on a full retirement, I want to keep up with news, events, and gossip ! Thanks for all the kind words. Fred
@Fred Weinberg - I am just curious, as as one of the few Canadian collectors who regularly submits error coins to PCGS; do you still plan to authenticate errors for PCGS?
No, Jon Sullivan, who most of you know, just started doing Mint Error authentications for PCGS in the past month. I'm still available for special situations or coins.
Thanks for the prompt reply. I do know Jon, and feel good knowing that error coin validation at PCGS is in great hands. I just shipped out a batch of 20 Canadian errors earlier this week to PCGS, so he will get all the fun! Enjoy your retirement sir!
