I got these two bank notes for FV at work last night. I work in a casino and the gal in the main bank saved the 5.00 for me, and on my lunch I checked again and the 20 had just come in. I am sure they're not worth much over face, but pretty neat anyways. Would you consider the 5 a minor error on the alignment cut, and what about the seal? It looks a bit off center.
Well the back of the five is off centered. Maybe you can get some extra money for that bill. The twenty is just a twenty nothing special, but you have 25 dollars just save them maybe they could be worth something in a year or so.
The book I have lists the 1950 $20 bill at Face Value but interestingly for the 1950B $5 bill is lists 11 out of the 12 districts but does not list your district "E" from Richmond VA for some reason. Hummmm. Likely a publishing error. Notes in Fine condition from other districts are listed from $10-$15 retail value.
I bet they were both spent by the same person. Whats the chances that two bills both 1950's series were spent by two different people on the same day in the same place. who knows
Was at a friends shop after close and I asked if he had any small faced bank notes. He pulls out a 1981 50.00 and a 1985 50.00 and a 1950 Series C 20.00 bank note. I asked if I could have the 81, and he said No, you taught me I am selling these on ebay. Every time I do good on them. He did however let me have the 1950 20.00 I gave him a 20 and took it. Now I can add it to this 1950's bank note kick I've been on lately. They must be pretty common?
I've had quite a week finding old bank notes, that's for sure. Got this beat up treasure last night at work. Three 1950's this week from the casino, one 1950 C 20.00 from a tattoo shop. This one was in the mute pile before I got a hold of it.
