A coin expert that I know here in Georgia, who writes books on coins and would know. He told me, that he has no knowledge of any changes to the unc sets' finishes.:)-O)

Thanks, Kind of a wild claim for HSN to make with no back up.

Yeah...and I don't understand why people pay over $30 for a 2009 mint set on eBay that they can still buy from the Mint for $27.95...but they do.

Okay, Okay, yes there are some on eBay that don't know what's going on. But, I appreciate them, they keep the sales down on the 2009 set.

Regarding changes specifically to 2010 coinage, I would believe a large company with its own TV station that sell tens of millions of modern coinage, would have inside info before the author of a coin book or two. btw experts are a dime a dozen.

Yep, and that's the problem, we've all become accustom to business as usual, believing it's okay for a large company to benefit from inside information. This kind of information "leaking" from The Mint before a public announcement would pretty much be illegal and heads should roll for it.

Watch HSN again last night and they said it again, "No satins of any kind in 2010". But, they did seem a little apprehensive about some of their statements, almost as if they heard people are complaining about them maybe getting inside information. They also said, which I didn't hear before, "The Mint stated no more satins in a press release a month ago". Anyone see that press release?

I didn't watch but I heard they weren't even selling satins when they said "no more satins". This might lend more cred to their "no more satins".

Was this while they were pitching their satin finish states quarter collection (2005-2009)?
obviously at 2x what they should be selling for:eek:

That seems to be the rule of thumb with these TV coin sellers. Cut their price by one half and you basically have the true market value of the item......

On one of the recent shows I recorded they did definitely say the mint is not making anymore satin finish ASEs that collectors had been able to purchase directly from the mint. I had been wondering if these were going to be included and according to HSN they are included.

That's where we disagree. They're selling them at 2x what they're selling for right now, not what they should be selling for. lol

All of the Mint's press releases are listed on the Mint website. I checked all the press releases back to July 2009, no such press release about no more satins.

Yet the Mint is still listing the 2010 mint set on thier website as being a satin finish.

Yep, I found no press releases either. When what's his name on HSN said there was a press release his voice kinda quivered, like he was lying because he knew what the "chatter" is.

The only thing is, does he repeat and repeat the lie on national TV, knowing it's a lie? My take is he does it once, and stops, if it's a lie. Especially if people are calling him up saying we heard you said there would be no more satins. If it's a lie, You don't keep repeating the lie, you either shut up or deny meaning it that way. Comprende?

Has anyone received a 2010 Presidential Unc Set and does it have the satin finish? Ordered mine today and spoke with The Mint and they said the set does have a satin finish and so will the regular mint set when it's released.

If the presidential dollars are satin, and we are 2 months away from mint sets going on sale, with no official announcement, then my take is the satins remain.
